The master and slave relationship is the pathway of the unconscious; because it is based upon the law of force. Within a single lifetime but also from lifetime to lifetime; the perpetual taking of turns between the roles of master and slave. Depending upon whether you are up against someone; weaker or stronger than yourself. When you choose to be guided by the law of force; then the biggest bully usually wins.
